RIZIN Could End Its Contract with Patchy Mix, Keiichi Sasahara Comments

Keiichi Sasahara, head of RIZIN's public relations division, commented on the promotion's contract with Patchy Mix. While Mix remains under contract with RIZIN, Sasahara suggested that ending the contract is also a possibility.

Sasahara appeared in a discussion with former Japanese MMA fighter Tatsuya Kawajiri, where the two looked back on Mix's bout against Masakatsu Sato at RIZIN.54.

Sasahara Does Not Rule Out the Possibility of Ending Mix's Contract

During the discussion, Kawajiri asked about Mix, saying, "His contract is still in place, right?" Sasahara acknowledged that Mix remains under contract and then commented on what could happen next, saying, "Well, it's a matter of what we do from here."

Kawajiri then asked, "Is there also a possibility of terminating the contract?" Sasahara did not rule out that possibility and responded while nodding.

The exchange indicates that although Mix remains under contract with RIZIN at present, the promotion is not ruling out the possibility of ending the contract in the future.

However, no decision has been made to terminate the contract, and RIZIN has not made any official announcement to that effect.

Mix Missed Weight by 2.85 kg at RIZIN.54

Mix faced Masakatsu Sato in the ninth bout of RIZIN.54, held on August 11, 2026, at Toyota Arena Tokyo in Tokyo.

At the official weigh-ins the day before the event, however, Mix came in 2.85 kg over the 61.0 kg bantamweight limit, resulting in a significant weight miss.

The bout went ahead with Mix receiving a two-point deduction via a red card, and under the special conditions of the fight, a victory for Mix would have resulted in the bout being ruled a no contest.

Sato went on to win by unanimous decision after three rounds. For Mix, a former Bellator bantamweight champion, it marked his first loss since joining RIZIN.

The discussion made clear that Mix's contract with RIZIN remains active, while also indicating that terminating the contract could become an option. Attention will now turn to what decision RIZIN makes regarding Mix.
